I took this dry sink into my room at Valley Antiques in Funkstown today just before they closed. Was up late last night to paint it and up early this morning to put the final touches on it. I really like how it turned out.

It just hit me, this would make a great baby changing table, hmmm the next one I paint will have to be colors to go in a babys room.

Here is a vintage dresser I redid. Picture does not really show how beautiful this piece is, lighting not so good in this room.

I know I haven't been blogging as much as I use to, but I'm still around. I have to admit I've been on facebook. It's been easier to just pop something on fb than to blog, one might call it lazy or one might call it busy. I'm sure it's some of both.

Did You Ever Wish It Didn't Sell

Did you ever wish something didn't sell... Well this dresser has been sitting in The Vitnage Attic's room at Valley Antiques for some time now. I don't know why it hasn't sold, it's only $179.00, maybe it's the unappealing way I have it decorated... So the other night I had this great idea of bringing it back to the workshop and doing something different to it. So I went out and got some stencils, they are not cheap but, I did save 50% off on each pack.. Now today I need to go get the dresser and I pray it hasn't sold. Can't wait to get to work on it and , to show you it's new look.

Meet Shawn of Creative Accents by Shawn and her dad Dick.

Shawn is one of the girls of

The Girls of Repurposed and Refind in the Vintage Warehouse.

There is so many ways a dad can show his love for his daughter. This past weekend Shawn's dad just touched my heart. Dick showed up at The Vintage Warehouse loading Shawn up with antique treasures, like a cheastnut dropleaf table and these very old ice cream scoops, among some other treasures. The excitement Dick has for his daughter and this new venture she is taking shows all over his face when he drops off the items for her to sale..

You see there is so many ways to love but, when you show it by supporting the one you love, in something they have a passion for you create a bond and memories that are forever with you.

Shawn you are blessed!

Ok, I have to tell you the story about one of these ice cream scoops that Dick brought in for his daughter... It's the one closest to you in the picture. I'm telling it just like Dick has told it many times:) (many is more than 2)!

ANTIGUE GILCHRIST'S ICE CREAM SCOOP

Raymond B. Gilchrist, born in New Jersey around 1866, and married around 1881 to his Canadian born wife Agnes. He owned his own business, The Gilchrist Co. in Newark, NJ from, 1902 until 1926, and manufactured hardware specialtyitems such as Ice Cream Scoops, cork pullers, ice picks, ect. used in soda fountain shops durning that era. He invented, and patented many ice cream scoops from 1907 to 1915 and had a very successful manufacturing business for over 25 years. It is believed that he died around 1928. Many of his patented ice cream scoops are used today and very collectible.

This Ice Cream Scoop is one of the very first for Gilchrist. It is a 19c with the "G" on the top. You scoop the ice creamthe TURN the "G" the two hands inside the scoop rotates th release the ice cream. It is called mechanical type key scraper with blades.

This is a Heavy Metal with welded handle. Measures "7" long X Scoop including the G 3 1/2 "tall x 2 1/2 "scoop diameter or # 10 size

The snowmen are all tucked in for the night, but they're unable to sleep with excitement of going to The Vintage Warehouse in the morning... one snowman said "Hummm wonder what my new home will look like" another said " I hope my new owners won't put me on the fireplace mantel" (silly smowman thinks he's made of snow). From This Ryobi To That Ryobi

When I seen this metal ryobi base at an auction I didn't even think what it was used for, I just knew what I wanted to make out of it..

I looked them up on line and seen I can purchase the base for $159.99.

So I knew I got a good deal...

Went to Lowes to get my wood top, did you know lowes will cut your wood for you, first two cuts free any cuts after that is just .25.

I just needed two cuts..

Then I sanded, stained and polyed, hubby attached it to the base for me.

Here she is sitting pretty in my family room with my new leather sofa from The Vintage Warehouse.. yes, you can order new leather furniture at The Vintage Warehouse at Fabulous Prices!!!!!
This room is getting a make over, hardwood floor has been ordered, paint color has been picked out and not sure what I'm going to do with the curtians yet.

Until this room is ready for a coffee table, this beauty will be for sale at The Vintage Warehouse this Fri. 9-5, Sat. 9-5, Sun. 12-5, Nov. 18, 19 &20....

Fabulously Chic

I have a new found love for stencils, can't seem to stop mself. Everytime I paint a piece I stand back to see where I can stencil it...

I have to remind myself, when it comes to stencils, most times less is more.

I think I have the right amout on this piece. If the piece was smaller then I would have to adjust the amout.

I like it! Now I just hope someone else does:)

I'm sitting here thinking of all kinds of things to start this blog post with but just unsure where to start. It's been a while..

First of all, Sorry I've not post in a while, truly been beyond busy.

Second of all I'm loving it.

These pictures are of our first Vintage Warehouse sale, and we hit the floor running. Repurposed & Refined found so many creative girls, all with something different to bring, and not just girls but girls with supportive husbands, yes we put them to work.

So Thank You to all the huubys that climbed, built, lifted, painted and the list goes on......

We are at it again this week, it's been all hands on deck in the warehouse. We have totally move everything around and brought truck loads of new finds, since truck loads left the warehouse last time.

My room at Valley Antiques is booming also, been busy painting and restocking that.

I have a lot to blog about,

like all the items I've been working on for the vintage warehouse opening.

Like, what a fabulous weekend it turned out to be for the Grand Opening of The Vintage Warehouse.

Like ,the blogger (Rustic Loves poppy) that drove for hours to stop in to see us and then blogged about The Vintage Warehouse.

Like, how much fun we all had working together this weekend.

Like, all the pictures of items I wanted to show you before it sold.

Ok, enought with the like, I sound like a valley girl, those of you form the 80"s know what I'm talking about.

You get my point right.

I've been soooooo busy getting ready for the Vintage Warehouse Opening, then working it, now getting ready for the next one, along with all the things a wife & mom has to do on a daily base. I'm tried thinking about it.

So with all that bla bla bla said I'll be along soon.. hold on it's coming...really, maybe tomorrow, oh thats right I have that to do tomorrow, maybe Thursday..

A Day At The Warehouse

We was working at the warehouse today, so it's ready to go for our Grand Opening on Fri. Oct 21. When Linda and Holly pulled up and said, is this where the Vintage Warehouse is..

Why Yes It Is!!!

They said they seen a sign out by the mall and had to come.. They came two weeks early but we was so excited to have them. Linda took this childs wicker chair home with her..

McDonalds wallet with caviar taste..
Jen & Jen with The Green Pear having McDonalds served on a silver platter.
McDonalds on a busy day at the warehouse, is usually what we have, there is one right across the street. I think by Oct 21 we'll be so tired of McDonalds ( already I'm)!!
Shawn and I loaded and unloaded two pick up trucks FULL of pallets, then we placed them on the floor where they needed to go..
Ok the guys helped some (he he)..
I know, your thinking what are they doing with pallets.. you'll have to stop by the warehouse to see.
Oh my Gosh who is that, none other than Jessica from Guten Tag at Funkstown, Jessica will be bringing some item in the warehouse for sale.. WoooHooo can't wait love her shop, it's right across the street from Valley Antiques.

Oak Farm Table & Fixins

Here it is, my new 6 foot long, oak farm table..

Well that is what you can see of it..

I stained the top in a dark walnut and painted the base, I added 6 white chairs to it, I just didn't get a pic of them.

Pretty In Pink

Here she is, a vintage record cabinet.

I have been painting furniture white for about 11 years now and when I see a vintage piece of furniture that was stained with an old cherry stain I don't even try to paint it white anymore. When painting a piece like that white the cheery bleeds through and the furniture ends up pink, I have not found a primer as of yet that will seal in the stain.

I have to say, she looks pretty in pink!

What a great cabinet to store your scrapbooking paper in.

I almost always paint the inside of a cabinet, I was not up for the challenge for this one.

The back of the cabinet would of had to been removed and all the shelves taken out. I almost did it when I looked behind me in the work shop and seen one hundred and one projects awaiting me.

Besides she is beautiful inside and out.

The warehouse will be a busy place this weekend with all the girls busy putting it together, we have just two weeks to go for the big grand opening weekend!!

I'm probable doing this the hard way, useing chip board instead of stencils, but it's what I have to work with for now. I went looking for stencils but had a hard time finding large ones that don't cost me trillions of dollars.

I'm making covers for a chair and vanity bench.

How Do You Relieve Stress?

I lock myself in my craft room and I create, rather it be scrapbooking, sewing or collage art..

On this day I just need to get out of the workshop and take a break from painting furniture.

My hubby had this old file cabinet he had to through out and it had a wood top. I took the wood top off and cut it into four pieces.

Here is what I did with them. #4 is still a work in progress.

Top:

I added eye hooks and ribbon to hang them, they are now hanging on the wall in my space at Valley Antiques.

1st truck load..

There inside the warehouse...

I didn't know he knew how to work the camera.
These were two pic's I could share out of the 10 he took, the ones of me sanding the legs of this piece are now deleted.. Thank God for the delete button.
When I turned around and seen my hubby holding the camera I thought he was joking until I loaded the pic's on my computer.

This is truck load #2 and a small table & 2 chairs were in my van. So all in all we had 3 loads of furniture that went to the warehouse.

All this furniture was likely one and a half truck loads when we bought it.

After the furniture is painted we can only get a couple of pieces of furniture on the truck at a time, don't want to dig or scratch it.

I reallllllyyyy like this cabinet, I added a little flair to it with a stencil and some ASCP in Paris Gray..

The inside of this cabinet is just fab, you'll have to come to the warehouse to see it.

How cute is this table and chair set, there is more to it than what meets the eye, stop by the warehouse on Oct 21, 22 & 23 and you can see for yourself whats missing with this set..

There you have it , the most furniture I have ever put out in two days.

There is a couple of pieces I didn't show you, can't give away all the goodies yet.

Rain Rain Go Away, I Have A Lot Of Painting To Do

This is not something I show the world everyday.. Picture's of my garage/ workshop, loaded with furniture that needs painted, but this weather is killing me..

Between the rain and the humidity, the paint don't want to dry, and then there is no way to distress these pieces. I really need to get this furniture finished so I can sale it at the shop.

It has been raining here in the north central part of Maryland since Sunday.

I'm in need of some sunshine..

I seriously thought I seen animals line up two by two today.

Well thats enough complaining about that. I did get some craft projects done inside, that normally I may not have finished if the sun was shining, so my time wasn't totally a waste.

I wish sunny skys for everyone.

Shabby Up Modern

I'm still working on this danish modern dining set, (from my last post) I really like the fabric I'm using on the 6 chairs. I needed some decor to add to the set that brings out the color in the fabric. I was hoping to find some items in the yellow but it was an all day task yesterday going store to store, with no luck. I stopped at our local ribbon outlet and just as I walked in the door my eye cought this yellow ribbon. so I sprayed the base of this brass lamp in this blue and made a ribbon shade with creams and yellow to match the fabric.
I'm finding myself getting really attached to this set, I really need to get it finished and over to the warehouse, before I move it in my house.

Danish Modern

Whoda thought, that I would have ever bought Danish Modern furniture.

This is the furniture I have snubbed for years.

But now I'm seeing it on blogs and websites and design shop..

So of course I had to get in on it.

I bought this hutch, the sever below and a table and six chairs. Yes of course I'm going to paint it. I'm useing ASCP in paris gray, as seen on the server.

Not sure if I should destressed it on the edges or not...what would you do?
( you can get your chalk paint here)

I'm going to use a gloss poly on it, to make it shine like glass.

This fabulous fabric is what I'm putting on the 6 dining charis

Can't wait to show you all the finished product, at this point I'm just not sure if I need to add a shabby twist on it and destress the edges or not. This could very well keep me up tonight, because tomorrow I have to destress it or poly it, I'm so torn on what to do...

Tea Anyone

Lots and Lots of tea cups and saucers..

Have you ever been to an auction that the auctioneer didn't care about making money. well I was the other day, the only thing this auctioneer wanted to do is get done and go home..

At most auctions the auctioneer would have sold these tea cups & saucers one at a time since they are marked England and Germany, not this guy he had a container full of the cups and another container full of the saucers, so of course I had to buy booth containers, couldn't sale cups with out the saucers..

The Vintage Attic's room @ Valley Antiques in Funkstown is full of them and I'm bringing more over this week.

If you have a tea house or just like to have tea partys or maybe you collect them, don't wait to long because they are priced to sale!!

Whats New

Hey whats new?

I moved alot of vintage but new items into The Vintage Attic's room this week and I'm not finished, taking more over today.

I have decided on paint colors for my doll house project, ASCP paris gray with white trim. I've painting alot of furniture with this color and love it.

I working on a dining set now and I'm painting it with ASCP in the Paris Gray. Can't wait to show you.

I Sure Could Use Your Help

I was telling my husband one day that when I was a little girl I always wanted a doll house, but never got one.
So that year for Christmas he got me this doll house, I was so excited, I just couldn't believe he listen. Never did I think he would get me one.
So he gave me 3 years to finish it, (because he knows how busy I am) because he knows I take on so many projects at one time and it takes me for ever to finish one. Ouch that hurt to say..

What happen to putting the toys together on Christmas Eve, just sayin..

So here we are about 5 years later and I brought it up from the basement and set it in my front room that I want painted before Christmas. So in order to paint my room this doll house has to be finished.

The next step is to paint the doll house before adding the windows and molding.

What I need is your help with, what colors to paint it!

I need the main color of the house,

the window trim color, and

the color for the molding.

So you Fabulous decorators out there in blogland please help.

This could take me months to decide on a color without some input,
not to mention how happy my hubby would be to see this finished.

hop on, let's take a ride through my yard.

could you please indulge me for a moment while I show you bits and pieces of my back yard. (oh wait it is my blog :) This is where I spend most of my summer days, my mornings and evenings are spent in the work shope (garage) painting furnitue. The days are just to hot to paint, you just can't get a good finished in this heat.

ok, this is really where I spend most of my time (picture above) it just happens that there is a yard around it.

I have already ate a cucumber of the vine and they are so good, can't wait to eat some of the tomatoes.

I know you didn't enjoy it as much as I do, but like I said it is my blog, and I'm sooooo happy you stopped over for a visit.

I lost some pic's trying to load them, I'll have to do another blog to show them to you. Blogger and I have not been the best of friends lately. It has taken me forever to load this pic's. A couple days ago I tried to do this post, after about 40 mins loading pics bloggger just flipped out on me and lost them all, so I had to count to 10 then 100 then 1,000 then...( I went for a swim in my pool) well you get the point, I did alot of counting....

So I'm going to take the hand it has dealt me and try to work with it...I'm trying to look at it as a half full glass and not half empty

I got this window at an auction today, I had no idea what I was going to do with it until tonight. I will never know when a creative thought will come. Tonight my husband rented a movie for us to watch, 10 minutes into the movie it hit me, I think there is enough room on the bottom of the that window for some hooks. So I went to check, sure enough, then I added some hooks for hanging it on the wall. By the time I did that, the movie was of no interest to me. As I looked at the window, it just needed something else, hey why not scrap something in a couple of the smaller windows.

Looking for our glass knobs, look no farhter than the blue box. We restocked them last week.

there is a bench that goes with this vanity, it's just not in this pick, but it's setting with it in the shop now. I'll post of pic of it soon, that is if it's still at the shop the next time I go.

I really like the small side boards, they're great for end stand if you have a bed that sets high off the floor, also great for tv stands in your spare room or in your room, use on back proch to put your potting items in it, or in a family room for and end stand, so many was to use them other than what their intended use is for.

What Can $3 Buy You

My sons yard sale find.

His dad gave him $3 to hit some yard sale, if you know my husband then you'll get why he only gave Tanner $3, he don't want him to bring home a bunch of junk.

When Tanner seen this he said "MOM come over here, I got to have this above my bed". I reminded him he only had $3, he ask the lady how much, she said $3. His eyes got big and without even asking me Tanner said I'll take it.

We painted the large shelf black.

I had some bright lime green paint leftover from a project I did last year or was the two years ago, who knows. I painted his wall behind his bed this bright lime green, at Tanners request of course. His room needed some color with the walls a tan and his furniture black, there was nothing to make this shelf pop out.

We had a bit of a delemma hanging it, if it was to high he would hit his head on it evey time he got up, so we hung it low as to use the shelf as a headboard.
Tanner loves it, now evey time a friend comes over, he says want to see my room.

Got To Start Somewhere

I think I remember how to blog, so here it goes I'm going to wing it. It has been 2 month since I did a blog post, wow how did 2 months get away from me. I'm getting back on track, I have alot to share with you, who ever you may be, my fellow long lost blogging friends that I have missed so very much!

For starters:

The picture below is me, but lets look past that and check out the kitchen cabinets, a nice cherry wood one might think, but I think not....

I painted the old dark cherry wood and gave my kitchen a fresh look...

changed out the hardware,

but holy hospital, it was all too white

So in with the black granite to help warm things up.

some subway tile in a natural stone finish for the backsplash.

still have to change out the red curtains, I think I'm going to have to make my curtains or should I say someone is going to make my curtains. I'm thinking a lime green, and I'm open for any color input.

To top it off in the hopefully near furture, we will be putting in hardwood floors.

Well that one project that has kept me away from blogging, and there is more..

I'm back, it felt good taking time out to blog, now to work on my sad looking blog, oh yea I need to add all you to my sidebar,

I started working on that before I took my break and didn't finish it ( story of my life).

Where Have You Been

I've been hitting up auctions looking for fun things to sale in The Vintage Attic's room at Valley Antiques.

My hubby and I have been working on remodeling the worlds smallest master bathroom, it's been two weeks now that we've been working on it, most of the time it's been waiting on the right tub to come in, and rewiring everything!

we are getting there, it's just taking forever or so it seems.

For now we are sharing a bathroom with our 12 year old son, I'm forever putting the seat down and wiping it off, oh my never sit on a toilet seat after a 12 year old and expect it to be clean...leasson learned..

I guess I'm blessed to have another bathroom to use so we can remodeling ours, so I won't complain..

I'm saying goodbye to my old out dated counter tops thats in my kitchen this weekend, Monday morning my new black granite tops will be here.

WOOO HOOO!!!

I'm so excited, I've been waiting 12 years for new counter tops..

My cabinets was a cherry wood finish,I painted them this past winter and changed out the hardware..

I've been working on my room at Valley Antiques, I found these crib bed springs, painted them black, I used one as a pot rack and the other as a message board. I have had a crib spring message board in my office space at home for sometime now and love it. Believe it or not they are hard to find, I just came across three of them, one sold same day I took it in the shop.

we've been very busy, we have also been painting furniture to keep the shop filled..I love this hutch, I have one almost just like it in my craftroom, I love mine.

I joined the gym last week, I know finding time to go is crazy but it must be done... My head is spinning right now with all I have going on today, so with that said I must go. I have not blogged in about a month, so I promise I'm going to do some short sweet blogs to keeep you all updated, because out of sight is out of mind.

So sorry to all the blogs I follow for not stopping by with comments like a good blogger should, but as soon as I get my house in order I will be back on track.

There is something about a jar full of vintage whites that is so calming.

I had a bag of lace and a bag of baby shoes that I've been wanting something to do with,

then in my stach of stuff that I keep for a rainy day I found these two jars, so why not marry the two together.

I picked up these vintage salt bags at an estate sale this weekend

and alot of vintage white linens.

One Mans Junk Is Another Mans Treasure

Can ya beleive it,

I remembered to take a before picture of my sideboard estate sale find.

I always jump right into a project and forget about the before picture,

but I'm getting better at it.

This piece needed a door put back on, new rails on the inside of the drawers,

knobs and of course some white paint.

I didn't even have time to show you this fab double dresser, we took it to the shop yesterday, I forgot my camera, so I went back today to take a picture and it was already sold.

But I'm Not Shabby Chic

I hear this alot..
I like the white, but my home is just not shabby chic, it's more country...
My answer:
Your home don't have to be shabby chic to have a piece of white furniture,
point taken in photo above.
I took a hutch painted it white and distressed it, it looks very much like a shabby chic piece, then I took out the glass added chicken wire and some early American home furnishings like a coffee grinder, old kitchen scales, flour swifter.

Now thats very country or cottage....
Some times all you have to do is change up your small furnishings to change your style.

Ok ladys you may know what I'm talking about if I put it this way.
you can wear jeans with a sweatshirt and sneakers or
you can dress up the same pair of jeans
with heals a nice white shirt and a fab jacket top it off with
some bling and your ready for a night out.

The same goes for your home, just think of your furniture as your jeans.

Ribbon Lamp Shade

Hey don't throw out those old shades!!

They can look like this....

I really like the base of this lamp, it lights up too.
(In the first pic you can see it better).

Here is how to make your own,

find and old shade, make sure your shade has good bones, you need ones that have wire attached to the top and bottom of the shade, that way when you take off the shade your left with a solid frame.

then just tie your ribbon on.

when buying ribbon, you will need ALOT of it, so check the price of it first depending on how much you want your shade to cost you.

The white ribbon shade above took 72 to 78 yards of ribbon,

the shade in this tutorial took 96 yards of ribbon.

Polka Dots

I had a lady email me about The Vintage Attic still having those polka dot suitcases from our other store in Waynesboro, you know the one we closed in Aug of 2009.

I had to chuckle a little, the set thats in our space/room now is about the 10th set we had since the close of The Vintage Attic's shop in Waynesboro.

When one set sells I'm ready to bring in another one,

I love these suitcases,

I had ladys tell me when they see the red with white polka dots they think of

The Vintage Attic,

so we must keep them coming..

To the lady that stopped in today and wanted the dresser in our front cover ad for Great Deals Savings Magazine.

Sorry to say that sold just a couple of days ago, but don't fear we will be on the look out for one, just for you.. so check back often I'll post a pic.

I found these chairs at an auction, They didn't look like they do now.

The chairs had that 1970's yellow shag fabric on the seats

and they were painted brown with a fake wood look.

They were just lovely (not).

I have to say, love it when I'm at an auction and no one there can see past how bad they look, that means the price may be just right.

And so it was for the lady that bought them from The Vintage Attic's room yesterday.

I am so bad about taking before picures, when I get home from an auction I jump right in to working on the thing I bought, that I forget about the before photo.

Paint, Painting & Painted

Hey firends guess where this pic was taken at...

some of you got it right, at my booth space.

I know, I know, I just painted the walls a couple of months ago, a beautiful light blue.

The blue worked for a while but for now I really want to tone it down,

I went with a color called antique lace.

I really like how it looks,

makes for a great back drop for the photos I take in the room

You wouldn't think that white on beige would make the white furniture pop, but it does so much more than the blue color I used on the walls.
I did all this painting yesterday, with all my items still in the room, I did finished it in one day, didn't think I would, with having to move everything.
Now I'm off to my booth space to put it all back together.
more photos coming tonight.

Oh I forgot to tell you, I rented another space in the same shop I'm in.
Doing very well needed to add on.

Like some of the auctions I've been to, the people I meet, whats going on in my booth space, some cool furniture I have bought and painted,

the big snow we just had, my work and the deadline on the sales magazine I work for,

why one of my Christmas trees is still up...., oh I painted my kitchen cupboards....and so much more...were do I start.

Fans looking forward to playoff game with Steelers

Two bears were spotted Friday on Baltimore Street in Funkstown rummaging for scraps of burger — Ben Roethlisberger that is.

The stuffed bears, dressed in Baltimore Ravens outfits, are how Valley Antiques and Uniques is showng its support for the Ravens when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers today in the second round of the NFL playoffs.

Valley Antiques and Uniques Manager Patty Owens said the bears are a way to have some fun celebrating the bitter rivalry."People drive by and have stopped and taken pictures of them," Owens said. "It's all in good fun. It's just to make people smile.

"The male bear is dressed in a Ravens hat and shirt, while the female bear is holding pompoms and wearing a sash that reads: "Do Not Enter. Ravens Fans Only.

"Valley Antiques and Uniques was one of the few businesses in Washington County that displayed its team spirit. Most of the storefronts were business as usual.

so this week I took it out and put in back in my room...

Oh yea I also SOLD the table and chair set,

I just didn't get to the shop fast enought to take a pic of the SOLD sign

before it went out the door.

Now that the room is very bare,

I like the sound of the Christmas paper under foot as the kids walk through it.

To just sit back and look at it all, months of work spread out all over the floor.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Santa on the back of a fire truck, what more could a little boy ask for..

He's not so little any more..

Every year our local fire department rides around our neighborhood with santa along, giving out candy canes, with lights flashing and telling one and all Merry Christmas!!

We use to just hear them yelling Merry Christmas, the sound of the sirens and the flashing of the lights, we knew they were out there, but they never made it to our street. Our street is not really a through street. So every year our little guy would go out side in the freezing cold and wait, for the hope that this year they would remember him..

Until one year His dad couldn't take the heart break of his sons disappointment anymore, so he went to the fire department with a nice donation and our street address....

Now for the last 3 years as our son stands out in the freezing cold waiting on the firetruck to make it's way to his house and he is not disappointed.....

Thank You to the best fire company in our four state area!

I think it was pine,
don't matter now because it's white... added some hooks and

I really like how they turned out.

then there is me, yes I took this pic myself, I know, I know looks like a sad facebook pic, he he he he he, it is.. I used this pic for my new facebook & blog prfile picture, there was no one around to take it so I had to do it myself.

Just a little peek at The Vintage Attic's room at

I'm getting there, almost finished decorating my little room.

I have been so busy with my new job, that my hubby (bless his heart)

has been doing most of the work for the shop,

I did take time out this past Saturday to ad LOTS of Christmas decor and vintage home decor in my room.

I have to say it looks Fabulous, I just have to add a couple more touches and its ready for someone to move in....I say that because this weekend I had a couple ladys wanting to move in.

I don't think I have ever told you guys what I'm doing now.

I'm an account executive for Great Deals Magazine.

What I do is sale ad space for the magazine to businesses.

Having owned a brick and mortar business and looking back I wish I had something like this magazine available to me back then.

Our prices are great for small businesses.

I placed an ad in the magazine for my little space and the response has been great!

Sold 5 pieces of furniture already in just a week from the ad and my fb and web site hits went through the roof...

it's just not your life that this will affect.

I like to think I'm a breast cancer survivor.

No, I have never had breast cancer myself.

So now your wondering what I'm talking about.

Read on and you will see....

You see when I was 6 years old I remember my mom having a talk with me about her being sick and how some day soon she will be going to go live with Jesus.

As a child to me that just meant we was all going to move to heaven,

until the day she had the real talk, you know the one where she used the word dying,

she talked to me about everything I was to do and not to do in my life.

Then she went to the hospital for days, it seemed like weeks or months went by, but it was just days, the longest days of my life, so I thought at the time.

You see I was a mama's girl, I never left her side.

The day I was to go to kindergarten

I wouldn't get on the bus, my mom had to take me to school,

she walked me to my class, as I held on to her leg as she drug me to my seat.

I cried all day..

My sisters and I went to stay with an aunt during those days. Then it happened, a knock at the door of my aunts house one night real late, I remember my aunt coming in to our room to wake us, she said your dad is here and he needs to talk to you.

I was so happy to see him, I thought we was all going home, but I didn't see mommy with him.

I ask were is mommy,

he said "with Jesus".

I know some of you may be in tears right now, just like I am.

But if my story will save just one woman then I am so glad I told it.

You see my mom din't get checked until it was to late.

On your to do list for today please call your doctor for an appointment.

Please don't send sympathy letters, that is not why I told my story.

I know I will see her again someday and that gives me HOPE!

Just let me know that you had your exam.

New For The Weekend

What a busy busy busy busy busy busy week!

I started a new job this week, that I will talk about in it's own post when I find some time this week.

I still found time to clean up the mess in my booth from furniture being sold, and add new items, so it's all clean and stocked for the weekend.

I'm volunteering at the Convoy Of Hope that's in town tomorrow, I'll be giving out free groceries from 7 am - 3 pm.

I know like I need something else on my plate this week, but I have to say there is nothing like seeing the look on someone's face that is so greatful to receive them.

God has been so good to me, this is nothing compared to what I have been givin.

I better get to bed 5am will come very early..

Fabulous & Shabby

How Fabulous is this wall shelf.

In it's old life it was a top to an organ.

It was pretty shabby when I found it.

I added a mirror and a wood shelf for the bottom, some wall hooks for the back.

Oh yea and scrubbed and scraped years of barn stuff off of it, added a couple coats of paint and then sanded it off.

Swedish Settee Redo & The Front Window Too

When my hubby seen this sette he said I really like this, it would really look nice painted white. I agreed, it would look nice painted white, but I don't like to upholster.

He convinced me to do it.

I'm glad I did.

It turned out to be beautiful!

Oh my wait until you see this wood cabinet all dressed in white,

Ta Da!

Here she is....

I'm having a very hard time letting this at the shop, I really really really want to take it back home.

This is a very hard job being in this business, my first instinct is to keep it, but my job is to sale it.

Unless it don't sale....then I can bring it home..

Now the question is how long do I have to wait, how long is that time between taking it to the shop and it not selling.

One week, one month, two months, three months, can I bring it home before Christmas....

Oh wow it just hit me if I love it so much someone else will too, it might sale, then what.

Oh no now I'm having an anxiety attack.

Ok I have to go now to find me some chocolate to eat, that usually helps.

We now have furniture!

There is still more white shabby chic furniture coming, we are always on the look out for furniture to paint, to make your home beautiful.

We have corner cabinets, hutches, servers, vanity's, dressers, chairs, end stands, side tables, all paited a shabby chic white.

Well I better get back out in the shop and get some painting done.

One Dresser Down

One dresser down and 4 more pieces of furnitue in our work shop awaiting another coat of paint.

Wow the last couple of days have been crazy, we made it to four acution in two days, so you say when did I have time to paint, well let me tell you, last night I was painting until 12:30 am, up this morning at 6:00am to put another coat of paint on. I'm going to sleep tonight. But right now it's back out in the work shop to paint some more.

We just got back from a auction that wasn't very productive.

That makes for a long day when you sit at an auction and wait for just the right piece of furniture, that would look beautiful with a coat of white paint on it.....just to have someone out bid you. When I say out bid, well there was two people at this auction (not me) that wasn't going to leave without this piece of furniture, one of them got it (not me) and they paid 3 times more than what I could of sold it for. Oh well thats how it goes. Hope they enjoy it, sure hope it don't fall off the truck on their way home (Oooops did I just type that out loud). LOL!

Busy, Busy, Busy

We 're working on restocking The Vintage Attic's room at Valley Antiques, and I have to say this is no easy task (I'm not by any means complaining). Here is pictures of the new pieces we took in yesterday morning.

By the close of business yesterday we sold 2 out of the 3 pieces of furniture we brought in, not only that but, 3 pieces of furniture that was already there sold.

So with that said we have a busy week ahead of us.

Painting furniture is no easy task, it's not somethng you can just whip up in one day, it takes time, sanding, priming, taking off hardware, replacing missing hardware, ext....... and with a booth space that is on the verge of setting empty, we can't waste any time this week.

So I'm off today, looking for furniture that is worthy of The Vintage Attic's Tags.

Hutches, Tables and Stands Oh My!!

We just broght this shabby chic hutch in the shop a couple of days ago

my two favorite things ironstone and tarnished silver.

The table they are setting on is a 1930's square oak table from the Sears robuck catalogs.

There is somethng about the look of old oak that is just simply pretty.

White Vintage

There is something about old oil base painted furniture that makes me want to buy it.

So I did.

I always tell myself, if it don't sell I'll just put it in my home.

I always buy what I love just in case it don't sell.

I have to say I have not been able to bring a piece home with me yet.

That don't count the pieces I bought and never took to the shop.

Ok now to the ironstone, I LOVE IRONSTONE!

Never found a piece of ironstone I didn't like.

Same goes with the ironstone, if it don't sell it don't break my heart,

I'll just bring it on home with me.

So I buy it, when I can get it..

Here at The Vintage Attic's little room inside of Valley Antiques, we are kicking butt with furniture sale's already this month!

Yes I'm doing my happy dance, you would too if you went to check on your space and all you could see was SOLD signs.

I am so blessed, my God love me.

Remember this cabinet, months ago I did a blog and showed you this cabinet.

I liked this cabinet just the way it was, I thought it had charm in its natural state. That is not like me to keep a piece of wood furniture in it's natural state, I always paint it.

I tried to sell it on craigslist a couple of times and no hits, I know the price was right, so it must be the cabinet.

After weeks of deciding what color to paint it, one night about 3am in the morning it hit me the same color I used on my collage art.

I love this color!

It reminds me of a beach cottage.

The cabinet is now sitting pretty in my booth at Valley Antiques awaiting it's new owner to come and pick her up.

WOW where do I start, this has been a crazy busy fun summer this far.

I know a couple of weeks ago I started a box of stuff for my 100 follower giveaway, I have not forgot about that, I'm still finding items for the box. It is how ever taking me some time.

I have been gardening, the pic at the top is some fruits of my labor.

Oh of course I have been indulging in some Yard Sale's

This is not me, I did however take a picture so next year my hubby can rig something up for me!
The town I live in every 4th of July they have a HUGH Yard Sale , I mean HUGH!!! Miles and Miles of ALL day yard sale..

I bought one of these feed carts for my garden.

Oh my, now this is me I have been walking now for about 4 hours, have about 5 hours more to go...UHG...

We brought a wagon along but I think I might have to have this cart, oh well the lady won't sell it.

it's 9:30am time for some food, at our old favorite place, we stop here every year. The best Hot Dogs in town.

There is not much you won't find here.

After the first couple of toilets we saw I had to start taking pic's of them. They were everywhere, I couldn't believe how many people was selling their toilets.

ok I really have to go is anyone looking!!!

decisions decisions, do the kids really need this.

Sure they do, so off to the van it went.

What beautiful fireworks the town put on this year, Jim, Tanner and I was laying in the back of our van with a cooler full of cold drinks and some snacks watching fireworks, lovin life..

We had a July 4th cook out on the 3rd, I told tanner we couldn't eat until Nanny & Pappy showed up, so he sat in the front yard with his plate waiting on them.

They were only about 5 min late. So Tanner didn't starve.

Me, my sister and some friends took our kids to an amusement park for the day, I needed two days just to recover from that..

Lots and Lots of pool side fun ,

My sister Andrea ran her first 5k this summer, so proud of her.

We did it!!!

Here she is one of the cutest little girls ever, Rachel our grand daughter had her first dance recital. So proud of her.

Well there you have it I have been keeping very busy this summer, and thats just what I have pics of....we spent a day at the lake fishing and swimming. Lots of days by our pool with friends and the grand kids, entertaining Tanner for the summer, we took in a couple of movies with him and his friends. Going to alot of auctions and yard sales to keep my booth stocked, because I'm selling some stuff let me tell ya, so tickled with what my space is doing.

I hope all of you are having as much fun this summer as I am..
